Both Dr. Eghrari-Sabet and Dr. Siddiqi are board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology. As parents, Pediatricians and Allergist we have a particular commitment to our youngest patients. We will make an individualized plan for each of our pediatric patients. We know they are not pint sized adults. Our allergy tests are simple and painless (no needles!) and we will give you the results in 15 minutes.
Allergies and children
Uncontrolled allergies and asthma in children accounts for the majority of school absences. We recognize that this puts a burden on parents who are taking care of a sick child as well. Children often live with their allergies and asthma because they don’t know how it feels to breathe easily. Using rescue medications after an allergy attack, or at the sidelines of a sports game is not the most effective way to treat and control asthma. Controlling children’s allergies and asthma has been shown to improve school attendance, school performance and ability to participate in sports.
Asthma and children
Recent studies have shown that untreated asthma in children can have long-term, irreversible effects on lung structure and function. Research studies have also shown that allergic children treated with immunotherapy (allergy shots) are less likely to develop asthma. Early diagnosis and treatment of nasal allergies and asthma in children is crucial for their long-term well-being. Our office evaluates infants, children,teenagers, and adults for allergies,and asthma. Recently the term "atopic march" has been coined to illustrate the progression of allergy. Quite often these diseases start in infancy with eczema, then progress to food allergy, frequent ear and sinus infections, wheezing, asthma and nasal allergy. We have a thorough, flexible education program to help parents and children take control of their allergies and asthma.
